“I play soccer 3-4 times a week. I played in college and still play for several adult leagues. It keeps me fit and is a fun way for me to spend a couple nights during the week and over the weekend. I however found myself too wrapped up to actually workout – so, I never got stronger or faster – things to help me do better on the soccer field. That also put me at higher risk for injury – especially as I get older. |
Check out this video clip from Get Strong, Olympic Style, which demonstrates proper squat mechanics and correct front barbell rack position.
Finally! A strength and fitness program that rockets performance even if you can only spare less than 2.5 hours a week.
Are you a busy professional that longs for the time and motivation to get back to your former days of strength and performance? Are you a weekend warrior that participates in an adult sports league or athletic hobby, but do not have the time to ever TRAIN for that sport or activity?
- No time for training – too busy?
- Plagued by injury due to inappropriate movement patterns and strength levels?
- Not getting any better or improving– due to lack of improper program and prioritization?
- Not improving body strength or fitness?
It’s true! You can use the body’s natural recovery rhythm to maximize your strength and fitness program with a simple to follow, total body, explosive program.
Top level athletes at the university, professional, and Olympic level understand the value of two main principles. That is recovery is paramount in how the body performs and training the neurological system is the true factor in athletic performance and total fitness.
- Recovery – using this program, you will train hardest on the weekends. As individuals in western society, we follow a schedule that puts mental and physical stress on us throughout the work week. There is a natural endorphin release, stress hormone reduction, and improved alertness that come with the euphoria of the weekend. Most of us get more rest on Friday and Saturday nights, think about work less, and are excited about some enjoyable activity taking place (even if that’s just doing nothing). All these factors mean your body is in a better place to perform! If you take advantage of this primed performance with the best choices for total body explosive exercise, then you will watch your body change to fast, mobile, strong, flexible, and fit.
Train the neurological system. The central nervous system (CNS) controls all bodily functions. This includes sending messages to your muscles to coordinate movement. If you ask your body to coordinate complicated athletic movements during your training, then your muscles will respond with a whole bunch of adaptations in the form of strength improvement through higher muscle fiber recruitment. The basic principle is that when your CNS is trained with complicated movements your body will have no choice but to improve the muscular performance in order to complete the desired activity. Athletes understand that the CNS wants to obtain mastery. Olympic discus throwers practice throwing motions every day! Their movement patterns are mastered. The variation comes only from slight changes in loads or velocity. Train using the same principles in this program, using Olympic weightlifting breakdowns with Kettlebells (because of their safety) and Barbells (because of their load potential and forced symmetry).
Brian Wright has used these strength and conditioning principles since 1997 as a collegiate athlete. He started his training career just after college, assisting during his graduate studies with George Mason’s strength and conditioning programs. He helped to implement across the board these principles of neurological mastery and recovery optimization to clients ranging from youth athlete to retiree.
Over the past 14 years, Brian has helped over 1,253 clients achieve their strength and fitness goals. His business currently helps clients through an average of over 540 sessions per month.
Testimonial:
Brian: I tested my one rep maxes on my front squat, clean and jerk, full squat snatch, deadlift, and bench-press in late October of 2010. Using just Saturday and Sunday and one day during the week – usually Wednesday, I am stronger and fitter. I weight 9lbs lighter – 182, added 35lbs to my front squat in 6 months, over 50lbs to my deadlift, and have set new personal records in my weightlifting movements. I trained using a 6 day, Russian squat program 2 years ago when I wanted to reach my weightlifting goals (my athletic hobby). Not only did I not reach my goals, but I gained too much fat, battled injury, felt constantly tired and beat down, and had no fun! With these modifications, I spend more efficient time in the gym, have more fun training, and am a great deal closer to my goals and should expect to snatch 100kg (220lbs), and clean and jerk 125kg (275lbs) by the end of the year.

How to Finally Achieve Mind-Blowing Strength and Fitness Results Only Training on the Weekends
The Program:
Choose 1 Olympic variation and one strength movement for each session on Saturday and Sunday. During the week, just carve out 1 day of a 20 – 25 min movement and fitness workout.
THAT’S IT!
You will take advantage of being well-rested and primed for your best performance on the weekends. Just choose the best exercise progression for total body neurological training. In as little as 6 weeks, you will notice your strength and fitness improvements.
This DVD will teach you several Olympic weightlifting variations and strength movements. The program outlined is complete and can help you achieve Rapid and Lasting athletic improvement. There are other variations and additions you can make to best suit your likes and goals, however the framework must remain the same. The integrity of the program relies on recovery and Olympic weightlifting variations. Explosive complicated movements generate muscle activation! Your body will thank you by transforming into a lean and strong, injury free rocket!
In this DVD – Choose from the following snatch variations:
- Barbell clean grip power snatch
- Barbell snatch grip power snatch and overhead squat
- Kettlebell dead position snatch
- Double Kettlebell dead position snatch
- Double Kettlebell swing snatch
- The barbell chain – Power clean, front squat, and push press
- The Kettlebell dead clean and strict press
- The Double Kettlebell dead clean and push press
- The Double Kettlebell drop clean and thruster
Pair 1-2 of these motions with the strength movement like the “2 hand anyhow” that you will learn in this DVD.
Also in the DVD learn these clean and jerk variations:
“I have improved my running times because I am now stronger and more flexible. I’ve been working under the guidelines for only 2 months. With the program Brian outlines, you will understand that explosive exercises combined with the right strength exercises make it so you don’t waste any time in the gym. You just work on getting better. Your body figures it out and then you can translate it to running, as in my case, or any sport.” – Dan, 44 years old
Kettlebell sizing suggestion:
- Beginner women – 8kg (18lbs)
- Intermediate women – 10-12kg (22-26lbs)
- Advanced/Strong women – 14-16kg (31-35lbs)
- Beginner men – 16kg
- Intermediate men – 20 or 24kg
- Advanced/Strong men – 24-32kg
The Program Explanation:
See below for an example of how the program is put together. For more videos on dynamic warm-ups, other strength movements to pair with your Olympic variation, or specific programming questions, check out BW-PT Instructional Videos.
Weekend Session 1:
- 5-10 min joint mobility/dynamic warm-up. Refer to the link above. The key is to prep the body for load, big range of motion, tension and speed contractions.
- Choose an Olympic Snatch variation – the key is load, technique, and power – not fitness exhaustion
- Choose a strength movement for total body – 2 hand anyhow, overhead lunge, or deadlift variation
- 5-10 min of recovery - Foam rolling and stretching
Weekend Session 2:
- Dynamic Warm-up
- Choose a Clean and press variation
- Chose a strength movement for the total body – Front squat, Bench press, Deadlift, Renegade rows
Weekday Session:
- The goal is to do a mobility and fitness workout. My suggestion is the renegade row for deep abdominal and hip tension followed by the single Kettlebell swing or snatch. Other great suggestions are the Turkish get up, pull ups, pushups, or light fitness circuits. This session should be no longer than 20-25 minutes from start to finish.
General notes – Rest as needed – remember that muscles need recovery most during DEMANDING lifts. Take no more than 3-4 minutes, but do not rush the sets – quality over quantity.
I just listed my favorite options for movements that are not included in this DVD. For more information on how to include other motions, please refer to my website or email me directly for ideas on other resources.
This program is geared toward STRENGTH and POWER – as those are the keys to proper movement, size, and total fitness. For more conditioning and movement correction – I add swings or single arm swing snatches with Turkish getups as additions where needed.
“I just want to feel good and stay fit. With work and family, I am swamped and stressed seemingly all the time. Training with Olympic weightlifting broke me away from battling shoulder injury with my constant obsession with bench-press and worked for leaning me out and getting me stronger than any amount of 5 day split a bodybuilding magazine would suggest. I know now WHAT exactly I should do. The program is doable! It’s challenging and exciting because it’s different. But most of all – I lost weight, improved my bench press (even though I cut way back on the amount I use that exercise), and I haven’t had one injury!” - Adam
